Description

An aluminium vise that clamps to the edge of a desk and comes off again in ten seconds.

Not everybody wants a vise bolted to the furniture. This one screws onto the lip of a table, holds the work, and goes back in the drawer when the kitchen table has to be a kitchen table again.

  • Aluminium body, screw clamp for table edges up to roughly an inch and a half.
  • Swivels so you can turn the work toward you rather than turning yourself.
  • Light. That is a feature and a limit - see below.

What it is honestly good for

Holding while you file, solder, glue, sand or inspect. Hand work, in other words. It is the vise you want on the bench next to the press, not the one you want under the bit.

It does not bolt to the drill press base. For drilling, use one that does - the brass vise or the drill press vise. Clamping a part in this and holding the whole thing under a spinning bit is how people get hurt.
