rotary-stage-60mm
Rotary stage, 60 mm, 360 degrees

An XY stage moves the work in a straight line. This one turns it, by a measured amount, and holds the angle while you work.

60 by 60 mm aluminium platform, full 360 degree rotation, driven by a differential micrometer head.

What the maker publishes

These are the seller's figures, and unusually for this class of part they publish the whole set rather than a model number and a shrug:

Rotation: 360 degrees, continuous

Minimum scale: 0.01 mm on the micrometer head

Fine travel: plus or minus 6.5 mm at the drive

Load: 29.4 N, which is 3 kgf

Body: aluminium alloy

Mass: 0.16 kg for the stage, 0.3 kg shipped

Why a rotary stage and not just turning the part

Because unclamping is where the position goes. Once a part is held, every time you free it to turn it you lose the datum you set. A rotary stage turns the whole clamp - part, vise and all - so the centre stays where it was and only the angle changes. That is how you drill a bolt circle, or a row of holes at 15 degrees, and have them come out where you meant.

The differential head is the reason the small movements work. A coarse thread gets you near, a fine one closes the last fraction, and the 0.01 mm scale is what you read while you do it.

Where it stops

3 kgf is the published load. That is a small vise and a small part, not a lump of steel.

This is an optical-bench part by origin, not a machine-tool part. It positions; it does not resist cutting force. Side load from anything that bites will move it, and that is not what it is for.

We have not stacked this on our own XY Stage, 60 mm. Both are 60 mm platforms from the same industrial family and the mounting convention is common to it, but we have said it before on pages where we should not have, and we are not going to say it again on a guess. When we have both on the bench and bolted together, this paragraph gets replaced with a photograph.

The seller does not publish the tapped hole sizes or their spacing. Neither does anyone else in this category - we asked the question across the whole supply side and got nothing. If the hole pattern decides your purchase, write to us before you order.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0760/5826/3743/files/S8fca6af260fa47929cd7910915e40a73V.webp?v=1789885623
