It is a JT0 socket. If the stub on your spindle is a JT0 taper, this chuck presses straight on and you never touch the brass adapter, which is there for people fitting a chuck to a bare motor shaft. If your stub is the neighbouring B10 size instead, it is about a third of a millimetre smaller and the chuck will not seat properly. You cannot tell those two apart by eye, only with a caliper across the wide end of the taper.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eWhat we have not checked\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWe have not had this machine on our own bench.\u003c\/strong\u003e The 0.3 to 4 mm range and the 3.17 mm shaft come from the maker's listing and they match what our press is specified at, but nobody has put the two together in front of us yet.
