It holds an edge far longer and it snaps rather than bends. Side load breaks these - the work has to be clamped, and the bit has to go straight down. Pulling a part sideways while the bit is in the hole is the single most common way people destroy the small sizes.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRun them fast and feed them lightly. Carbide wants speed; it is a slow feed that keeps the tip alive, not a slow spindle.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBelow about 0.5 mm these are consumables.
